BE AMONG THE FIRST TO WITNESS AWARDS CONTENDER AND CANNES WINNER, THE SEED OF THE SACRED FIG, AT OUR EXCLUSIVE MOVIE CLUB FIRST LOOK PREVIEW.

Family bonds unravel and generations clash in this extraordinary drama from acclaimed filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof. Winner of the Cannes Film Festival Fipresci Award, The Seed Of The Sacred Fig was received with record breaking ovation, voted top film in Screen International Critics Grid for Cannes 2024 and displays the true power of cinema to change us and the world we live in. Shot in secret and resulting in the persecution of its director, who eventually forced to flee Iran, the film combines gripping storytelling with real-life footage of recent protests in Iran, capturing a family's turmoil amid a society in upheaval.

In Tehran, Iman and his family celebrate his recent promotion to an investigating judge. As public protests erupt against compulsory hijab, the dynamics within his family begin to shift. When his service weapon goes missing, Iman becomes increasingly paranoid, even suspecting his own wife Najmeh, and daughters Sana and Rezvan.

Renowned for his thought-provoking and politically charged cinema, The Seed Of The Sacred Fig is being hailed as Rasoulof's most daring and important work yet. Born in 1972 in Shiraz, Iran, Rasoulof's works often critique the socio-political climate of his home country, resulting in frequent confrontations with Iranian authorities. His notable films, such as There Is No Evil and A Man of Integrity, have garnered international recognition at prestigious film festivals. In 2010, he fled Iran after being arrested and sentenced to prison for his politically charged films.
